Industry Connections
Work with Western Engineering
Western Engineering is actively working with business to the benefit of staff, students, faculty and our city. With world-class researchers, students and facilities, The University of Western Ontario is committed to the community and establishing and building relationships with partners in industry. Check out how you can get involved:
Hire a student
Western Engineering Career Services strives to meet the needs and demands of students, industry and the engineering profession as a whole. We believe the strengths of our students stem from their capabilities in design, their critical out-of-box thinking skills and their broad multi-disciplinary approach to engineering education. Every student, and every company has a different need so with that in mind the Engineering Career Services Office has developed two types of co-op opportunities: the Internship Program and the Summer Engineering Co-op Program (SECOP). We also facilitate the recruitment of our graduating students and alumni.
Sponsor a student design project
The Western Engineering experience is not just about studying. It is also about developing leadership skills, building a network of friends, having fun and making a difference in the community. Industry is encouraged to support these qualities of our programming by supporting a fourth-year capstone design project or one of our award-winning
student clubs, groups or teams.
For example, the Ontario Centres of
Excellence (OCE) Connections Program connects student design teams with
industry partners.
Perform collaborative research
We are strongly committed to research directed towards benefiting society. Our leading-edge research provides the foundation for graduate student training and undergraduate learning. Our faculty members are responding to critical challenges faced around the world. Western Engineering researchers are actively involved in projects at the frontier of knowledge. Their knowledge is brought into the classroom and applied in industry everyday.

Make your idea a reality
WORLDiscoveries,™ a new Business Development arm of The University of Western Ontario, Robarts Research Institute and Lawson Health Research Institute,
can work with you to help overcome technical challenges or open new and exciting market opportunities. Their team is dedicated to helping both industry and inventor find the solution that could make a difference to a company and a community.
Improve your skills as a professional engineer
Are you looking for professional development opportunities in the engineering profession? Western Engineering offers
Master of Engineering degrees in each department. The MEng degree is ideal for the working engineer looking to upgrade his/her skills because it can be completed in a relatively short period of time, it does not require independent research, and the degree does not normally lead to doctoral studies.
Make a difference
You can make a difference by giving to Western. Your gift can help Western educate tomorrow's leaders; shape the future of health care; promote exploration and innovation; enrich humanity through art, culture and music; support a sustainable future; or inspire community engagement.
