Welcome!

The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at The University of Western Ontario offers innovative and enriched programs for students who wish to pursue green process engineering, chemical and biochemical engineering, alone, or in combination with many other degree options.

Our department also has a strong research component with many faculty members conducting excellent, innovative and world-class research in their areas.

Congratulations to Dr. Paul Charpentier and Dr. Wankei Wan on their promotions

Dr. Paul Charpentier and Dr. Wankei Wan have been promoted to the rank of Professor, effective July 1, 2010.

The committee members were impressed with Dr. Charpentier's impressive accomplishments in both research and teaching, specifically his significant achievements in research on supercritical fluids.

The committee members were particularly impressed with Dr. Wan's impressive and diverse research in biomaterials and bioengineering, specifically with his success with patents and licensing.  They were also impressed with his contributions as founding director of the Biomedical Engineering graduate program and his strong leadership skills in the development of the BME program.

Dr. Sohrab Rohani was recently awarded the Engineering Prize for Achievement in Research (more).

Congratulations to Dr. Jin Zhang on receiving a CFI grant

Dr. Jin Zhang was recently awarded $216,342 from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to further develop technologies using multifunctional nanocomposites (more).

Welcome to Dr. Andrew Hrymak and Dr. Amit Chakma

Welcome to Dr. Andrew Hrymak and Dr. Amit Chakma who joined the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering on July 1, 2009. Dr. Andrew Hrymak is also the new Dean of Engineering and Dr. Amit Chakma is the new President of The University of Western Ontario.
